Battlefield 2 features lot of changes even though it is the sequel to Battlefield 1942. It is the game that features modern battlefield with modern combat system where player’s mission is destruction, destruction and only destruction. The new gameplay supports formation. Players can unite in a group of up to six and up to nine squads for better execution in the battlefield. The squads are controlled by the Commander assigned by the player. Battlefield 2 features three factions: United States Marine Corps (USMC), People’s Liberation Army (PLA) and Middle East Coalition (MEC). Player can choose to play either. The expansion packs released for Battlefield 2 contains additional factions to play.
Battlefield 2 supports two game play modes; Conquest and Co-operative. The game gives player the options to choose from large number of infantry; each having different skills and weaponry. Battlefield 2 features real-life vehicles used by armies of different countries through-out the world. The game includes big vehicles like battle tanks, patrol vehicles and naval vehicles. There is also a global ranking system. Awards are given to those who perform well and show dedication. Battlefield 2 also features battle recording facility for replay. Player needs to download these files from the server in order to play them.
